Pakistan’s opening batter Saim Ayub has been sidelined for six weeks after sustaining an ankle injury on the first day of the Cape Town Test. A scan revealed a fracture in his ankle, ruling him out of action for future actions.

The injury occurred during the seventh over of the match while Saim was chasing a ball hit by South African batter Ryan Rickelton. The ball, which was heading toward the third man boundary, saw Saim racing alongside teammate Aamer Jamal when he sustained the injury.

This means Saim is not only out of the ongoing Cape Town Test but also faces uncertainty regarding his participation in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. Additionally, he is confirmed to miss the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Saim was signed by the Dhaka Capitals for this year’s BPL but was unavailable due to national team commitments.

As reported earlier by Cricfrenzy, the franchise had confirmed that he won’t be available for this season for the busy international schedule, and now he is sidelined by injury.
