Nigar played a stellar unbeaten knock of 153 runs off 256 balls, including 20 boundaries and two sixes. This remarkable innings not only marked her as Bangladesh's first centurion in women's long-format cricket but also put Central Zone in a commanding position.


This year marks the inaugural season of women’s first-class cricket in Bangladesh.

In the three-day match, North Zone declared their first innings at 240/9, with opener Farzana Haque Pinky scoring 86 runs off 246 balls and Rumana Ahmed contributing 57 runs off 121 balls. Nahida Akter was the star bowler for Central Zone, taking seven wickets for 48 runs.

In response, Central Zone’s openers Mursheda Khatun and Farzana Akter Lisa gave their team a solid start, scoring 66 and 60 runs, respectively. Building on this foundation, Nigar Sultana played her record-breaking innings, helping Central Zone declare their innings at 387/8.


For North Zone, Jannatul Ferdous Sumona impressed with the ball, claiming six wickets for 113 runs, but her efforts couldn’t prevent Central Zone from taking a significant lead.



Nigar’s century is a historic achievement and a proud moment for Bangladesh women’s cricket, showcasing the growing potential and talent in the country’s cricketing landscape.
