Chattogram’s Ifran Hossain came to bowl the last over, starting with a dot ball. Salman responded with a six over point on the second delivery and followed it with another maximum over mid-wicket. A four through covers on the fourth ball brought the equation to 9 runs required from 2 balls.
Salman then smashed a six on the fifth ball, which was declared a no-ball, giving Barishal a free hit. Although the free hit yielded no runs, Salman sealed the win with a boundary on the final delivery. He remained unbeaten on 53 off 28 balls, overshadowing Tamim Iqbal’s scintillating 91 off 54 balls for Chattogram.
Tamim, who has a storied history with both Barishal and Chattogram, had earlier laid the foundation for Chattogram’s total of 182. The veteran opener, a former star of Barishal’s BPL franchise and a Chattogram native, played a captain’s knock but was left disappointed as his team fell short.
Barishal’s chase began brightly with Iftikhar Hossain scoring 56 off 39 balls, helping the team reach 79 runs in the first 10 overs. However, the middle-order faltered, leaving the game in the balance. Moin Khan’s 16-ball 26 kept Barishal in contention before Salman’s incredible final over sealed the win.
The thrilling finish not only secured two crucial points for Barishal but also highlighted Salman’s ability to deliver under pressure.
