Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons has confirmed that Nahid will be included in the squad for the upcoming T20I series against the West Indies and will play at least one match.

Simmons revealed this during a discussion with commentator Ian Bishop following the Jamaica Test. While the coach praised Nahid's versatility across formats, he emphasized the importance of managing the young pacer's workload carefully.

Nahid’s rise has garnered praise from cricketing icons like Ian Bishop, who shared his excitement about the young pacer on social media multiple times. Bishop revealed that Simmons had reached out to discuss Nahid’s potential, a conversation that also involved legendary pacer Courtney Walsh.

Walsh, who was once Bangladesh’s bowling coach, noted the importance of managing Nahid’s fitness, drawing parallels to his own career of enduring long spells and remaining injury-free. Bishop echoed this sentiment, urging careful handling of the young bowler’s physical demands.

Despite being a part of six Test series, Nahid has rarely played more than one match per series, except for the Pakistan tour. In his lone ODI appearance against Afghanistan last month, Nahid impressed with a two-wicket haul, even as Bangladesh lost the game.

Simmons has revealed plans to test young fast bowler in T20Is, while emphasizing the importance of managing his physical workload.

“We’re making every effort to maintain a balanced workload for him, ensuring he stays sharp and free from injuries. He has played one ODI so far, and we hope to include him in the T20I squad. If we can play him in at least one T20I, we’ll get a better understanding of his potential in this format. Without playing, we can’t know what he has to offer,” Simmons explained.

“He’s already part of the ODI setup, and now we’ll test him in T20Is to assess where he can go from here. But yes, we are committed to managing him as effectively as possible,” the coach added.

Despite being part of six Test series with the Bangladesh team, Nahid has rarely played more than one match in any series, except for the Pakistan tour. Last month, he was included in the ODI squad against Afghanistan and performed well in his sole match, taking two wickets despite the team’s defeat.
