Her impressive bowling has been rewarded, as the ICC's latest weekly rankings update brought good news for the Bangladesh women's team.
Nahida, 24, has climbed three spots to achieve a career-best No. 7 in the ICC Women’s ODI Bowlers’ Rankings. She had earlier made history in March as the first Bangladeshi bowler to break into the top 10. Meanwhile, Sultana Khatun, the series' highest wicket-taker with seven scalps, has also made remarkable progress, jumping 23 spots to a career-high 31st position.
Others have also seen significant improvements. Leg-spinner Rabeya Khatun is now ranked 40th after moving up six places, while Fahima Khatun advanced 10 spots to claim 57th. Additionally, pacer Marufa Akter climbed 13 positions to secure the 73rd spot.
In the batters’ rankings, Supta and Pinky have reaped the rewards of their stellar performances. Playing ODI cricket after a hiatus of nearly 18 months, Supta scored 211 runs in the series against Ireland, earning her the 43rd position in the rankings. Pinky, who notched up three consecutive fifties and scored 172 runs in the series, moved up six places to claim the 16th spot.
Captain Nigar Sultana Joty also saw a significant jump, advancing 11 places to rank 28th, while Sobhana Mostary climbed 12 spots to reach the 92nd position. The top 15 batters remained unchanged, with England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt leading the list with 760 rating points.
