Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] official said that they are ready to give any logistic support to the government, they are also ready provide Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium to be set up as an isolation centre for the treatment of coronavirus patients if the government wants.
On Wednesday, 27 leading cricketers of the country took their respective social media accounts to reveal their decision to donate 50 percent their salary to fight against coronavirus in the country. The cricketers will hand over some Taka 26 lacs to the government as the country passes a tensed situation dealing the coronavirus.
BCB director and media committee chairman Jalal Yunus said that the board is ready to provide the national stadium as well as the academies to the government, the moment they ask for it.
"If at any time the government thinks that they will take any logistic support from us, we have said before that we are ready. We are also ready to support financially. Not only the field, we will also provide the academy if the government wants. We are ready to give our support the moment government want from us," Jalal told to a leading news media on Friday.
Earlier on Thursday Jalal said to the reporters that they have decided to collect fund on the behalf of the board. Though they are yet to finalize the amount.
‘’We have decided to collect fund on behalf of the board though we are yet to finalize the amount,’’ Jalal told reporters on Thursday.
“We are going through a crisis at the moment and there are many who are trying to contribute for the society and the country from their respective position. BCB has also decided to contribute to the cause. The amount and where to donate the fund will soon be decided,” he said.
Due to coronavirus pandemic The Hyderabad Cricket Association offered the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal to be set up as an isolation centre. BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly has offered Eden Gardens’ indoor facility and the players dormitory to the West Bengal government to create a temporary medical facility.
On Thursday, IEDCR director Meerjady Sabrina Flora in an online press conference said five more people were infected with COVID-19 in Bangladesh on Thursday, raising the total number of infected people to 44.
Among the 44 infected, five earlier died and 11 recovered from the infection, said Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research.
