Sheikh Hasina gives land to Bangladeshi player

Good deeds lead to good rewards, so say the learned. But how
often do we see hard work paying off? However, in the case of Mehedy Hassan
Miraz, it did pay off—and in style. The off-spinner was finally bequeathed the
land that was pledged to him.
After taking a 12-wicket haul against the Three Lions in
Dhaka, the Prime Minister of the country, Honourable Sheikh Hasina, promised to
give him a land in his home district of Khulna. The land is located in Khulna’s
Mujgunni and was granted by the Khulna Development Authority.
Miraz was also pleased with the grant as he claimed that he
was thankful to the PM for her generosity and labeled her as a “mother.”

“When I got a phone call from the Prime Minister and learned
that I had a chance to meet her I was overwhelmed. After learning of my
family’s financial hardship, she allotted the land as an inspiration, like a
mother,” said an ecstatic Miraz.
He also then promised to help youngsters with talent to
reach the top level as he knows how it is to go through hardships.
“I had to struggle immensely for this position. So I want to
promote cricket and share my experiences with newcomers.”
This news comes as a boost for Miraz as he is now the owner
of a plot worth 57 lac taka and is around 0.05 acres (3.07 kottah) in size. The
former U19 captain will be more than motivated now to repay the faith shown by
the leader of the nation.
The youngster is preparing for the upcoming tri-nation
series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka and will also have the T20I and Test
series against the latter in his mind as he will hope that he not only makes it
to the team, but also helps his country to glory.
