The Dhaka Premier League (DPL) witnessed a high-scoring thriller as Dhanmondi Sports Club secured a 24-run victory against Legends of Rupganj in a run-fest at BKSP Ground No. 3. The match saw a total of 640 runs, with Dhanmondi posting 332/7, powered by a stunning 143 off 121 balls* from Yasir Ali Chowdhury.

Opting to bat first, Dhanmondi had a shaky start, losing both openers—Habibur Rahman Sohan (5) and Ashiqur Rahman Shibli (18)—in the same over to left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam. Despite another early setback with Fazle Mahmud Rabbi (16) falling LBW, Yasir took charge.

Building crucial partnerships, Yasir anchored the innings, reaching his fifty off 73 balls before accelerating to his century in just 97 deliveries. His 146-run stand with Moin Khan (62) set the platform for a late flourish. Ziaur Rahman’s explosive 18-ball 40 added to the late fireworks, pushing Dhanmondi to 332/7.

Chasing a stiff target, Rupganj’s top order showed resilience. Saif Hasan (95) and Afif Hossain Dhrubo (98) came agonizingly close to centuries, but both fell short. Their efforts, however, kept Rupganj in the hunt.

Lower down the order, Rejaur Rahman Raja (49 off 39 balls)* fought bravely, but the required run rate proved too much. Masum Khan Tutul and Moin Khan were instrumental with the ball, picking up three wickets each, while Kamrul Islam Rabbi (2) and Hasan Murad (1) also chipped in to restrict Rupganj to 308 all out.
