Afif Hossain has represented the senior team in a single T20I so far. Earlier this year, he made key contributions to the junior tigers and helped them attain the sixth position in the ICC U19 World Cup.

Afif made his first-class debut last year, at the age of 17. He achieved the rare feat of scoring a century in the debut game and has never looked back since.

The U-19 sensation has already scored four centuries, two of which wert scored in the recently-concluded BCL.

In a recent interview with Cricfrenzy, the 18-year-old has talked about his first-class performance.

And here are the excerpts from the interview…

Cricfrenzy (CF): Four centuries in 8 matches, how do you see your performance in first-class cricket?

Afif Hossain (AH): I’m trying to do better. My efforts have been successful. That’s it.

CF: No fifties so far. Your conversion rate is also great.

AH: After settling down on the wicket, I have tried to play big innings. After 20-30 runs, I wanted to make the innings sizeable. Maybe that's why the innings has been big.

CF: Many cricketers face problems to adapt to first-class cricket. You have adapted to this very easily.

AH: I have got opportunity to play in the first-class cricket much earlier than others. This is a reason. And I used that opportunity. I never wanted to look back. I have tried this, that's why the result is good.

CF: What adjustments do you have to make in longer formats of cricket? Is it a matter of mindset?

AH: As it’s the longer format, (one) requires some time while playing. It is necessary to take a little time to understand the situation of the match and play.

CF: Your strike rate is also good (60+ in FC)...

AH: I love to play shots as long as I am on the wicket. I never tried to restrict myself (from playing shots), which certainly works for me.
