A legal notice has been served to the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Saturday for removing cricketer Shakib Al Hasan from the national cricket team as he is an accused in a murder case.
A Supreme Court lawyer, Barrister Sajib Mahmood Alam, sent the notice to the BCB on behalf of another SC lawyer Md Rafinur Rahman today.
The notice also asked the BCB to bring Shakib back to the country from abroad for the purpose of proper investigation into the murder case.
However, the notice has not yet reached the BCB, as stated by newly appointed BCB President Faruque Ahmed.
Faruque held a meeting today with several board directors to discuss the matter. After the discussion, the top BCB official spoke to the media.
He mentioned that they are not considering taking any action at the moment. A decision regarding Shakib will be made after the ongoing Rawalpindi Test against Pakistan concludes.
"As you know, a case has been filed. We haven't received the legal notice yet, so I can't comment on that. The case has been filed as an FIR, and there will be an investigation after that. The case will proceed in a certain direction afterward. Since the Test match is ongoing, and tomorrow is the fifth day of the Test, we haven't considered taking any stance at this moment. We'll sit down and make a decision after tomorrow's match concludes." Faruque said.
The case was filed with Adabar Police Station on August 22 on charge of killing garment worker Md Rubel. Shakib has been made accused in the case. Besides, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader and 156 named and 400-500 unidentified people have also been accused in the case.
