Bangladesh pacer Jahanara Alam was optimistic for his side to reach the semi-final of the upcoming Women's Asia Cup 2024 in Sri Lanka.
Jahanara, who returned to the national team fold after a year-long hiatus was confident that they can ensure the semi-final spot as Bangladesh are placed in the group with the host Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia.
"Our first target is to reach the semi-final of the Asia Cup. There is an equation here I think. If we become group champions and go to the semi-finals, then we can hopefully compete against Pakistan," said Jahanara.
Jahanara stated her side wants to repeat 2018's success in the Asia Cup when they became the champions by defeating India in the final.
"Looking ahead, it will be easy for us. We will definitely seize the opportunity and strive to regain the happiness we experienced in 2018. Personally, my goal is to contribute to the team's victory," he added.
Jahanara expressed her gratitude for returning to the national team after a long year and for the opportunity to undergo training in Moscow for nine months, and acknowledged the tireless efforts of the coaching staff, especially Mohammad Salahuddin.
Bangladesh are set to kick off the tournament with the first match against Sri Lanka on July 20 at the Dambulla Stadium.
