Indian commentator and cricket analyst Akash Chopra criticized the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for not extending Mustafizur Rahman’s NOC to play in the IPL. He also noted that his franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will suffer without his service.
BCB had granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Mustafizur Rahman until April 30, allowing him to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, they later extended his contract until May 1 increasing it to just one day.
“Mustafiz is leaving. He won’t be able to play for Chennai. He will be available for a few days. Why is Bangladesh doing this? Please let him play. Chennai will suffer some damage without him,” said Akash on his YouTube channel.
The Zimbabwe cricket team will tour Bangladesh for a five-match T20Is starting on April 28. So, BCB decided to call back Mustafiz to join the team for the upcoming series.
A few days ago BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Yunus stated that Mustafizur Rahman had nothing to learn from the Indian Premier League (IPL). He also mentioned that his workload was not being managed properly in the IPL.
Akash was irked by such a statement and questioned whether Bangladesh would not be able to win the World Cup if Mustafizur's workload was not managed properly?
“The board stated that Mustafiz is not getting any benefit playing in IPL. His workload is not being managed. So, they are taking him back. Bangladesh has done this many times. I think this should not be done. The World Cup is approaching. Indian cricketers will also go. I don't understand why Bangladesh is doing this,” he said.
“Let him play who is doing good. Big auction ahead. Mustafiz has the opportunity to earn a lot of money. Bangladesh feels that without Mustafiz's workload management, Bangladesh will not be able to lift the World Cup," he added.
