Rishabh Pant, the esteemed captain of the Delhi Capitals, faced a fine following his team's slow over rate during their gripping clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
The match, held at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on April 3, witnessed Pant's side falling short in maintaining the required pace of play.
This wasn't the first instance of such a wrongdoing for the Delhi Capitals this season, unfortunately. As per the stringent regulations outlined in the IPL's Code of Conduct regarding minimum over rate offenses, Pant incurred a hefty fine of INR 24 lakhs for his team's repeated infraction.
The repercussions extended beyond the captain, as each member of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, faced individual penalties.
These fines amounted to either INR 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever sum was lower.
Such disciplinary measures serve as a reminder to teams to uphold the spirit of the game and adhere to its established rules and timelines.
