ICC introduces changes to DRS, concussion rules

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made crucial changes in the playing conditions of cricket.
According to the new rules, the umpires will only consider the side-on replays for stumping while excluding the caught-behind scenario during the Decision Review System (DRS).
This modification came into effect on 12th December 2023. Therefore, if a team wants to refer to a caught-behind situation during a stumping, they will have to utilize a DRS option for the caught-behind appeal separately.
"The change confines a stumping review to only check for stumped, therefore preventing the fielding team a free review for other modes of dismissal (i.e, caught behind) without choosing a player review," read ICC's new amendment.
In the series against India early last year, Australian wicketkeeper, Alex Carey used the review for caught-behind after a stumping without using the team's DRS option, which gained significant attention.
The apex body has also brought more changes such that during a concussion replacement rule the substitute player will not be permitted to bowl if the replaced player was suspended from bowling at the time of the concussion.
Similarly, the global governing body also has limited to four minutes the time set for on field injury assessment and treatment.
