Shoriful's exceptional year clouded by team's performance

Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam was pleased with his performance throughout the year but he was disappointed with the team’s overall achievement in 2023.
The Tigers lost three home ODI series and finished eighth in the ICC World Cup held in India. Nonetheless, the team ended the year on a somewhat positive note by securing their first-ever ODI and T20 wins against the Kiwis in New Zealand.
Shoriful played an essential role in those victories by taking three wickets each in the ODI and T20 victories, both of which took place in Napier.
Despite the success, Shoriful believes that the team could have done better collectively, making the overall achievement more satisfying.
He stated that the T20 series was going well, and if it hadn't been for the rain, the team would have won the second match.
"Alhamdulillah, I had a very good year. But if we could've done a bit better as a team, that would've felt even better," Shoriful told the media today.
"It was a good series. The T20 series was going our way. If it hadn't rained, we would've won the second match," he added.
