Players' union calls for reform of 'chaotic' global cricket calendar
27 Mar 25Sylhet Strikers captain Mashrafe Mortaza believes the franchise-based tournament BPL has some shortcomings and backed Shakib al Hasan’s statement over the mismanagement of BPL.
According to the Sylhet skipper, “When you see the environment you can understand. Six to seven teams are practicing in one field. But Rangpur is practicing in their own field on their own responsibility,”
“These things matter. The facilities a particular team should get, and the arrangement should be done in the right way. Then maybe it will follow a structure. Anyone who sees such an environment would definitely be puzzled,”

Mashrafe quoted Shakib word's but also mentioned that adequate time is required for the board to bring changes in the development of the tournament.

“I agree with Shakib, but taking everything into account I think If it's not profitable, you won't want to stay. Franchise owners suffer losses. The cricket board should take step to bring the "comfort zone" for the franchise owners that will change the face of the tournament,”
Mashrafe also pointed out the dearth of marketing by the board which cost the franchise owners.
“How many names does Sylhet's team have? After three years, God forbid, if there are no strikers, those who have bought, we have to create a comfort zone so that they can survive. It should be done by the cricket board,”
“At the end of the day, cricket is just a game. There is beauty in a tournament, but we always failed to create hype at the beginning of the tournament, that's true,” he added.
