Bangladesh star all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz is eyeing at the ninth Bangladesh Premier League silverware with his new team Fortune Barishal.
Miraz has had a great last year in international cricket. The new-year challenge starts with Bangladesh’s top franchise cricket tournament.
Miraz was in Chittagong Challengers as the captain in the previous season of BPL but he did not continue his captaincy after a controversial incident with the owners midway through the tournament. Now he will play under Tiger Test and T20 captain Shakib al Hasan and former captain Mahmudullah Riyad
Speaking to the media after the team's first formal practice at the academy ground on Monday, he said the star-studded team gave him hope of winning the trophy.

“Our team has been very good. Shakib bhai is there, he played last year too. Riyad Bhai is here, I am here. There is Ebadat [Hossain}, there is Khaled [Ahmed]. There are many good players from the national team. I hope to be the champion. I will play for the sixth times. Played the final twice but can’t be champion once. Hopefully, I will be the champion this time.” Miraz said to media.

The all-rounder showed surprisingly good in the opening position for Khulna Tigers in 2019-20. Last season he played for Chittagong in the middle order, played most of the matches in five.
In the last year, he has improved tremendously with the bat in international cricket as well. His important role with the bat is also expected for the new franchise.
Miraz said that the batting position has not been discussed yet but he would like to play at top order.
“The team management will decide it (batting positions). There's still time. Team management will decide where to bat. I think there is no problem wherever I play according to the needs of the team. I have always said this. I would like that to bat at the top. They are also confident. Let's see what happens in the end” he added.
On the second day of this season, Fortune Barisal will start the tournament against Sylhet Strikers on Saturday [7th January].
