Players' union calls for reform of 'chaotic' global cricket calendar
27 Mar 25Fortune Barishal has roped in Universe boss Chris Gayle with his country man 'Jimbo' Rahkeem Cornwall and Afghanistan's Najibullah Zadran for the upcoming edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Gayle played for Barishal in the previous edition of the championship, where he was the second-highest run-scorer for his team.
The left-handed batter scored 241 runs from 10 matches at an average of 26.77 and a strike-rate of 112.61 with one half-century and a top score of an unbeaten 52.

Cornwall, on the other hand, recently played for the Barbados Royals in the 2022 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The right-hander also hit a double century of late to give an account of his credentials in the shorter format of the game. Cornwall is also more than handy as an off-spin bowler.
Meanwhile, another franchise Sylhet Strikers has signed three Sri Lankan stars Kamindu Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, and Thisara Perera, along with former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir.
Sylhet has also named veteran Mashrafe bin Mortaza as their icon player for the biggest T20 tournament of the country.
While, Rangpur Riders bagged Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf and all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz and Shoaib Malik in the squad.
The 43-day-long BPL will get underway on January 5 next year with the grand finale scheduled for February 16.
