The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 has approved Binura Fernando as a replacement for left arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka in the Sri Lanka squad.
Fernando who has played nine T20Is, was named as a replacement after Madushanka was ruled out due to a torn quad muscle. Fernando will travel out from Sri Lanka and join the rest of the squad in Australia.

Madushanka was seen staggering away from practice on Saturday and was immediately taken to the hospital for an MRI examination, which confirmed her injury. He is unlikely to recuperate in time for the World Cup and will most likely be replaced in the squad.
Madushanka, who made his international debut in the recent Asia Cup, shined throughout the competition, taking six wickets and keeping an economy rate of 7.75 over six matches.
Despite their recent Asia Cup triumph, Sri Lanka must compete in the World Cup's first round, where they will face the UAE, Netherlands, and Namibia, in order to qualify for the main draw.
