Bijoy earns recall in Bangladesh squad for second Zimbabwe Test

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Khaled Mahmud Sujon has opined that Russell Domingo’s coaching approach might not be fitting the ‘brand of cricket’ of the national team.

As a T20 team, Bangladesh has always stalled behind, recently they lost consecutive T20 series against West Indies and Zimbabwe. That forced BCB to make changes to team management and they recently appointed Sridharan Sriram as a technical consultant for the Asia Cup.

“You see, every person has a different philosophy. My philosophy and your philosophy are all different. Every coach has a different philosophy. His (Domingo's) philosophy may not suit our 'brand of cricket'. Actually, we are not being able to perform in T20,” said Sujon.

Sujon believes Domingo will take former India all-rounder Sridharan Sriram's inclusion in the Tigers' coaching panel in a positive manner. 

"Actually we did not have any talks with Russell regarding the matter. He is a professional. As we already have a head coach for Bangladesh, which is Russell Domingo, we are not bringing anyone in that capacity. We are onboarding a technical consultant,” he said.

"And Russell did not ask any questions regarding this as well. For as long as I have worked with him, I found him to be a very positive human being. I don't think it will be a problem. Definitely, BCB will have a meeting with him," he added.

It was also in the buzz that the board was thinking about splitting the coaching duties, with Domingo being considered to lead the ODI and Test side.
