Taijul hits back at critics after stunning five-wicket haul in Chattogram

Bangladesh Test captain Shakib Al Hasan stated his team's batting performance in the first innings, in which they were bowled out for 103 in 32.5 overs in less than one session, was 'not acceptable.'
Bangladesh were bowled out for 53 and 80 runs respectively in South Africa, where their batting performance was disastrous against spin.

Then, against Sri Lanka at home, they seemed back in touch when they found a flat wicket at Chattogram. Then, in Dhaka, where seamers had little help, Bangladesh came up with a familiar appearance with the bat, as a top-order collapse in both innings in the Dhaka Test led to a series loss.

Shakib was appointed captain following the Sri Lanka series but has been unable to remedy the team's batting problems. Bangladesh's top order faltered in both innings in the Antigua Test, as the hosts won by seven wickets.
"It's not acceptable and we have been doing it quite regularly now in Tests. The last four or five Tests we have played, we have done that pretty regularly. It's not acceptable. Batsmen need to stay in the wicket and score runs and that's how at least the Test match survive and then bowlers will win you the match. That's a simple equation that we need to work on and get better at it," Shakib said post-match presentations.
Shakib, who scored half century in each innings in a Test for the fourth and second times against the West Indies, explained that his strategy was to keep things simple and play his natural style.
"I was positive in my batting. I wasn't thinking the ball will do this or that. I kept my game simple. If it's there to hit, I will do so or else I will survive. That was the simple game plan that always worked for me and that's how I was successful, so I am not changing that," he added.
