Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)’s Grounds Committee chairman Mahbub Anam took the responsibility for the poor condition of Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur's wicket.

Anam opined that Mirpur’s wicket should not be used for more than 60 days in a year, however, BCB stages games for more than 120 days.

"I will not comment on anyone separately.  You should not play for more than 60 days in a stadium like Mirpur. We played there continuously for 120 days starting from January. I don't think it is possible. I will take the responsibility, we should take it as a board,” said the chairman of the Grounds Committee.

"Another thing is that the clay that is needed to make wickets in our country, the adhesive content that is needed in that clay is not available everywhere,"

He also reckoned that Bangladesh won many series in this wicket, defeating strong opponents like England, Australia and New Zealand.

"You have not counted the victories, we have won Tests against giants like England and Australia. We defeated teams like New Zealand on the same field. We have won against the West Indies. Our criticisms are due to ignorance. If we think scientifically, a lot will sound good,” he added.
