Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selector Abdur Razzak believes that removing a star player like Shakib al Hasan from any format is difficult if the cricketer does not pull away on his own.
Shakib has opted to take a break from all forms of cricket till the 30th of April. The ace all-rounder, on the other hand, was included in BCB's central contract for all three formats, announced on Thursday.

Shakib previously missed a multiple number of series due to various reasons, he will also be unavailable for the upcoming South Africa series.

"The system is not such that if one takes rest in two series, he cannot be kept in three formats. The cricket board has talked to everyone, who wants to play in different formats. Then the cricket board has decided to assemble them in the formats. But Shakib has not moved away from any format yet. Shakib is such a player that if he does not pull away from any format on his own, it will be difficult for board to remove him,” said Razzak.
Meanwhile, chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu was hopeful that Shakib will return in all three formats.
"He is our best player. We have a lot of games throughout the year in all three formats. So, we need a lot of players. We always want our best player in all three format. The board has given him a rest until April 30. I hope he will come back and play cricket in all three formats,” said Nannu.
