Former veteran South African cricketer Lance Klusener has been appointed as the batting coach of the Zimbabwe men’s national team.
Klusener’s appointment was confirmed by the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) Board during its meeting held on Monday.

“He is taking over from Stuart Matsikenyeri, who now moves to the position of assistant coach, and served as Zimbabwe’s batting coach between 2016 and 2018,” said Zimbabwe Cricket’s media and communications manager Darlington Majonga in a statement.
Klusener previously worked with Zimbabwe as a batting coach between 2016 and 2018. He then worked as the head coach of the Afghanistan national team, before resigning from his post from January 1, 2022.
Klusener took the Afghanistan job in September 2019 and led the team to compete in the recently-completed T20 World Cup in the UAE and Oman.
Meanwhile, Craig Ervine was confirmed as the full-time white-ball captain for the side. The 36-year old batter has played over a 100 matches in his ODI career in which he has scored 2837 runs at an average of 32.61.
