Bangladesh Primer League (BPL)’s debutant Mrittunjoy Chowdhury has sealed this season’s first hat-trick for Chattogram Challengers as they have won a high-scoring battle against Sylhet Sunrisers by 16 runs at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.
When Anamul Haque and Colin Ingram batted, Sylhet appeared to be favorites to win the match, but timely wickets and, most significantly, Mrittunjoy’s hat-trick ensured they did not lose the match after scoring the tournament's first 200-plus total.
Will Jacks continued to amaze with his hitting abilities, becoming the tournament's second batter to reach the half-century mark while on the powerplay.
When Jacks was dismissed, Chattogram were 62 for one in 4.4 overs, the third-fastest fifty in BPL history. Jacks made 52 out of a possible 19. He hit seven fours and three sixes in his innings.

The Chattogram openers, Jacks and Kennar Lewis, had returned to the hut by the seventh over. After that, as part of the reconstruction phase, Sabbir Rahman and Afif Hossain added a run-a-ball 47 before the former got out, scoring 31 off 29.
Following Sabbir's departure, Afif put his foot down. Following his departure, it was Benny Howell, who was in fine form, who hammered the ball around the ground.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz was able to assist him. Chattogram passed the 200-run barrier, thanks to the all-two rounder's sixes. Howell hit two fours and three sixes in his 41-run innings off 21 balls.
Sylhet were constantly in the hunt owing as Colin Ingram and Anamul Haque's superb century stand. Both of them did an excellent job and threatened to steal the game away from Chattogram.
One of the key points was Ingram's dismissal by Miraz in the 14th over, but it was Mrittunjoy Chowdhury's hat-trick that flipped the match.
Anamul struck the teenager for a six and a four in the 18th over on his BPL debut. The Sylhet bowler then made amends by getting Anamul (78 off 47) and Mosaddek and then bowled out Ravi Bopara with a full-pace yorker.
Mrittunjoy became the third Bangladeshi bowler to bag a hattrick in the BPL after Al-Amin Hossain and Aliss Al Islam. The left-arm seamer finished with a match-turning three for 33.
