Bangladesh batting coach Ashwell Prince said on Saturday [August 28] he is not worried about the openers as the Tigers got a pool of openers in the squad.
Bangladesh appointed Prince as the full-time batting consultant until the 2022 T20 World Cup, he worked with the Bangladesh team during the Zimbabwe series in July. The coach said he is not concerned about the opening batters, he also said the players need to adapt to the condition.

“Personally, I'm not really concerned about the opening Batsman. I think we had one or two good partnerships in Zimbabwe. Obviously, in the last series against Australia, conditions were tough. It's not easy to score boundaries as frequently as you would in pitches where the ball is coming with more bounce. Again, adapting to the conditions is important,” said the coach.
Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim who opted out of the Australia series, have returned to the squad. The coach believes having them back will add strength and experience to the squad.
“Partnerships will be important, and I think we have good long competition in the opening position area. So, obviously people like Liton having him back well, I'm sure get an opportunity in this position as well, and having this competition within the team will be very important,” he said.
“I think that the return of Liton Das and Mushfiqur is vitally important to the team. The team has a good combination of experienced players and youthful, very exciting, youthful players and having experience of Mushfiqur and Liton Das back in the team. That adds to the experience and that communication between the more experienced guys and the younger guys and the team is vital that the younger boys feed of experience of the more experienced guys,” he added.
