Eight close contacts of India all-rounder Krunal Pandya, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, returned negative test results. As a result, the second T20I between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo will go on as scheduled on Wednesday July 28.
After Krunal's positive test result on July 27, the second T20I was postponed by a day. Following this the entire Indian contingent underwent RT-PCR tests. Also, the eight players returned negative for the Covid-19 virus, but these players can’t take the field in the remaining T20Is of the series.

"Krunal is symptomatic with cough and throat pain. He is obviously out of the series and will not be able to return with rest of the squad," a BCCI source told PTI.
"However the good news is that all his eight close contacts who were identified by the BCCI medical officer (Dr Abhijit Salvi) have tested negative. But as a precautionary measure can't take the field," he added.
Earlier, the BCCI had announced the rescheduled dates for the second and the third T20I. “The second T20I between Sri Lanka and India originally scheduled to be played on July 27 has been pushed forward by a day and will now take place on Wednesday, July 28,” the statement from the BCCI.
India won the ODI series 2-1, and they have seized the lead in the T20Is after a 38-run victory in the opening T20I.
