Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan struck an unbeaten 96 as Bangladesh defeated Zimbabwe by three wickets to win the three-game series 2-0. After the match, Shakib stated in a video message that he was trying to stay focused and avoid overthinking.

Bangladesh had lost 4 wickets for 75 runs, then Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah pulled up a partnership of 55 runs. However, Shakib had to fight alone after the dismissal of Mahmudullah as Afif Hossain and Mehedi Hasan Miraz also returned early.

Shakib said he was having a tough time with the bat, it was mainly due to overthinking about his batting.

“Of course one always has to work hard but the mindset is very important. I feel that I was thinking a lot and perhaps was able to change that in this match. There were some things that helped me to keep my focus before this game. I will be trying to keep my focus. At the stage of career that I am in, I don't face technical problems that much. Mostly it's the mental aspect so basically if I can win the mental battle with myself I can score regularly,”

Shakib also complained that the pitch was not in their favor so the batsman were forced to play shots in order to make runs. He also credited the youngster Mohammad Saifuddin for accomplishing the win.

“The wicket was a little tough today. The ball wasn't really coming into the bat so you had to play shots to run. The batsmen have had to adapt a lot from that place. I'm glad I was able to make that kind of adjustment. It took a while but often since the wicket was falling, I couldn’t even do one thing too much. Credit has to be given to Saifuddin for the way he finished the game,”
