Bangladesh premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been banned for three matches of Dhaka Premier League and fined BDT five lakh, following his inappropriate on-field behavior during a match between Abahani Limited and Mohammedan Sporting Club in Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League T20 match Friday (June 11).
Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) Chairman Kazi Inam Ahmed informed the media during a press briefing on Saturday. Mohammedan skipper has accepted the punishment, CCDM chairman confirmed the matter too.
Shakib has been punished for violating level-3 of the code of conduct. For the first misconduct, one match ban and fine two lakhs taka and for the second phase, two matches ban and three lakhs taka fine have been imposed.
The CCDM gave the punishment on the basis of the reports of two umpires Imran Parvez and Mahfuzur Rahman and match referee Morshedul Alam.

"We were waiting for the report of the match officials, we got it. There were two complaints. LBW's appeal in a 4.6 over, in response to which Shakib kicked and broke the wicket. Another was after 5.5 overs, when the umpires called for rain cover and Shakib picked up the wicket and threw it away,"
“The report we have seen goes against Shakib for two offenses of Level-3. We have seen the match report. There is ban of 3 matches and fine of 5 lakh taka. The final decision was made by the match referees and umpires. I can't say anything about it” said Inam.
During that match, umpire Imran Parvez denied an LBW appeal, the southpaw lost his cool and was spotted kicking the stumps in frustration while engaged in a heated conversation with the umpire and later uprooted the stumps with his hands again after the umpire called a halt to the game in the sixth over owing to rain.
Meanwhile, it has also been seen that the left-hander was also involved in a heated discussion with the Abahani coach Khaled Mahmud who also happens to be the BCB Director.
Following the match, Shakib issued an apology to the supporters via his official Facebook page.
"Dear fans and followers, I am extremely sorry for losing my temper and ruining the match for everyone and especially those who are watching from home. An experienced player like me should not have reacted that way but sometimes against all odds it happens unfortunately. I apologise to the teams, management, tournament officials and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won't be repeating this again in the future. Thanks and love you all," Shakib posted on Facebook.
Earlier, during Shakib’s private training session at the BCB indoor training facility on June 4th, Shakib got away with a warning despite breaching the bio-secure environment during the ongoing DPL when he opted to call two additional net bowlers from his own cricket academy.
