Bangladesh won the series against Sri Lanka for the first time and also topped the ICC ODI Super League points table. Despite winning another series at home Shakib Al Hasan has struggled to regain his old form. However, Nazmul Hasan Papon, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), believes he will return soon.
Shakib returned to international cricket with the West Indies at home, where he had a fantastic series, scoring 113 runs in three matches and taking six wickets. However, Shakib struggled against the Lankans, took three wickets and scored 19 runs in three matches of the series.

However, BCB president does not see any reason to worry about Shakib's performance, he said, “The thing about Shakib is, there's no reason to comment on him ... I'm not worried about him at all. Because he is definitely one of our best all-rounder. None of us have any thoughts or hesitations about his ability. He will definitely comeback. Maybe, he's not getting the form. But he will definitely come back. There is no doubt about it,”
Despite winning the ODI series against Sri Lanka for the first time, (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon said that Bangladesh team could not play according to their ability.
"No matter how good the team is, you have to perform to win the game. As I said before, the Sri Lankan team is strong. We did fairly well in every sector in the first two matches. Today we could not do that. None of the bowling, fielding, batting was up to the expectations. The credit must go to the Sri Lankan team,” Papon added.
