Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is set to return at number three position in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka scheduled to be played from May 23.
Bangladesh Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin confirmed the matter adding that they feel the position suits him best.
“He (Shakib) will bat at three against Sri Lanka (in the ODI’s),” said Minhajul yesterday.

“That (No.3) is the best place for him and we feel he will have the time to settle down before launching in the middle.” He added.

Bangladesh’s team management tried to play Shakib in the lower order during the ODI series against West Indies to provide experience in the middle order.
However, the plan did not work out because Nazmul Hossain struggled to shin on that spot, allowing Soumya Sarkar to return in the following ODI series against New Zealand, which Shakib missed due to inclusion in the IPL.
Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in the first match on May 23, following the second and third match will be played on May 25 and 28.
