Miraz eyes trophies with new Tigers of Bangladesh Cricket
15 Mar 25Opener Tamim Iqbal's strike rate in the shorter formats has often been criticized. However, Bangladesh T20I captain Mahmudullah Riyad said that those who questions Tamim Iqbal's strike rate are 'fools' and should not talk about it.
On a live session with Cricfrenzy Mahmudullah said, “Those who ask such questions about his [Tamim] ability or achievement, I think they are fools. They should not raise such questions. Because he has given service to Bangladesh cricket for many years and his statistics also say that he is one of the best batsmen in Bangladesh. So it is not right to talk about his strike rate or all this,”

For a long time, the Bangladesh team has been in need of a hard hitter in T20. According to Mahmudullah, Tamim plays a critical role for the team and also believes Tamim is more experienced about his work. As a result, the issue of strike rate is unimportant to him.
“I think we need to understand the style of T20 format because as I said before, we don't have Gayle-Pollard or cricketers like them, who can hit sixes. So we have to use the power play from the beginning. First we have to use 6 overs then we have to catch the game from there then we have to finish the game by maintaining that style,”
“So I think it's important to understand this. I hope Tamim knows this very well. Because he understands his game very well. I don't think anything about the strike rate bothered him.” He added.
