BCB confirms UAE series, Pakistan tour under discussion

Praveen Jayawickrama, a 22-year-old left-arm spinner from Sri Lanka, made history on Saturday as he took 6 for 92 in the second Test against Bangladesh in Kandy is now the best debut bowling figures for Sri Lanka. It surpasses Upul Chandala's 6 for 179 against Pakistan from 1999, which has stood the test of time.
On Day 3, the left-arm spinner took center stage, setting up and dismissing Saif Hasan to begin his demolition act. As Tamim Iqbal looked like he was on his way to a worthy century, Jayawickrama changed his angle and bowled from around the wicket. It paid off right away, as the left-handed opener was caught at slip after being undone by an arm strike.

"My favourite wicket was Tamim's - I had really wanted that one. I had bowled a lot of balls over the wicket, but he wasn't playing that many attacking shots to me. So the captain and a few of the senior players asked me to make a change and try it, and I'm very happy it worked," said Jayawickrama after the match.

Jayawickrama, a replacement for injured Lasith Embuldeniya, has had a modest record in first class cricket, but impressed at Pallekele, giving Sri Lanka a healthy 242-run first-innings lead.
"Just wanted to bowl a lot of dot balls and build pressure. That was the game plan. Glad it all worked today, but we have more work to do over the next two days," he said.
