Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan Papon sees low possibility of Dhaka Premier League to be played because of the corona outbreak across the country.

The Dhaka Premier League was postponed by BCB at the end of the first round in March of last year due to corona pandemic. In a meeting with the clubs, the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) decided to re-start the event on May 6 in a shorter format [T20 format].

BCB president visited Kurmitola General Hospital to take the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine and there he said, "It is very difficult to continue the Premier League in the current situation, it is not possible to return the game on the field in the current situation,"

If the bio-safety zone can be ensured, there is a possibility of this domestic event to be held in the field. At the same time, he thinks that the tournament can be held on the field only if the cricketers and officials can ensure about it.

"Unless we can ensure a bio-safety zone, it's difficult to get the game on the field. Whether there is a single team or ten. However, the BCB is trying. If they can assure me that they can play the game with biosecurity then we will play. I think the chances are very low.” He added.
