Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo thinks Bangladesh has a great opportunity to do something they haven't done before against New Zealand.
The conditions in New Zealand have been extremely difficult for opponents. This is Domingo's first Kiwi tour as a coach, but he has previously toured as a player.
“It is a great opportunity for us to do something that no Bangladeshi side has done before. We are all excited by it. It is my first tour to New Zealand with Bangladesh. I have been here previously with South Africa. I know it’s a tough place to tour,” said Domingo

Domingo believes it is important for Tigers to do well in big series like New Zealand if they want to succeed in the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India in 2023.
“It is a great opportunity for some of these younger players. There’s a World Cup three years away and New Zealand is one of the top sides in the world. If you want to be serious contenders for an event like that in India, you have to put in big performances in a series like this. (New Zealand).” He added
Bangladesh has not yet establish themselves as a strong team in Tests or T20s. The coach, on the other hand, believes the Tigers are strong in ODI format. He also mentioned the pacer's ability to perform well against New Zealand.
“I think the 50-over format is our strongest format at the moment. If you look at the team’s performance in the World Cup and if you look at the averages of the players, we have some good numbers in one-day cricket. I think this is our strongest format.”
I think we have some good young fast bowlers who are coming through that maybe New Zealand haven’t seen before. They maybe weren’t expecting to see. We have got some good potential, guys like Hasan Mahmud and Taskin Ahmed are bowling nicely. We are excited about some of our fast bowlers.” He ended.
Bangladesh will play 3 ODIs and an equal number of T20 matches in the upcoming series.
