The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had taken up several plans on the occasion of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the biggest plan was to host the Asia XI against the World XI match. Although it was postponed in the first round due to Corona, BCB is still determined to host the tournament. Despite fears, the tournament is not being canceled now, said BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon.

Two T20 matches were scheduled to be played on March 21 and 22 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur last year but the BCB was forced to suspend it because of the pandemic.

BCB has already hosted an international series against West Indies at home after hosting two domestic cricket tournaments during the Corona period. That is why the matches of World XI and Asia XI came up for discussion again. However, the corona infection is stuck again, despite that BCB wants to organize those two matches as soon as possible if possible.

"What has happened is that, it has been extended until December to celebrate the birth centenary. That’s why we see a glimmer of hope. Maybe it could be done again. At the same time, we need to keep in mind that the Covid situation is getting worse. That too we have to keep an eye on where we are going. But we want to do this tournament as soon as possible” said Papon in a program of recitation of Quran and distribution of food among the distressed people as part of the centenary celebrations of Bangabandhu's birth.

The board officials are preparing for the two matches as they have also made plans for the available cricketers, who will play this tournament. Although they were due to be contacted later this month, the rise in corona infections has created uncertainty.
