Veteran spinner Daniel Vettori has already joined Bangladesh team's training session in Queenstown, New Zealand recently. However, the Tigers won't get the service of Vettori in the Sri Lankan tour as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are thinking of sending a local coach for the upcoming tour.
In the Sri Lanka tour, Tigers have to depend on local spin coaches. As Vettori cannot go out of the country due to corona restrictions of New Zealand. In the recently concluded series against West Indies, Sohel Islam was in charge of the spinners. He might get to work with the Tiger’s in the Sri Lanka tour.

“The thing is, the contract with Vettori was extended up to the T20 series. Due to the Covid situation it is difficult for him to travel, as there is a huge technical problem,” BCB chairman Akram Khan told the media.
About assigning a local coach for the Sri Lankan tour he said, “We are not getting him [Vettori] out of New Zealand. So we'll think about him later. We have our ocal coach and we will send him to Sri Lanka.”
In 2019, BCB signed the legendary New Zealand spinner until the 2020 T20 World Cup but due to the Corona epidemic the event was postponed. Vettori was supposed to work with that Bangladesh team for 100 days however, the contract didn’t work out.
