The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided the venue of the World Test Championship (WTC) final to be held in Southampton's Ageas Bowl ground. This was confirmed by Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly.
Initially, the final was supposed to be held at the Lord's, but due to corona restrictions Southampton Ageas Bowl was chosen as it features a five-star hotel attached to the stadium, providing plenty of logistical and operational convenience in times of bio-secure bubbles. It will make easier for both the ICC and the England and Wales Cricket Board to create a bio-bubble for the two teams.
Edgbaston in Birmingham and Old Trafford in Manchester were also on the list for the final of the inaugural edition of WTC.

The former India skipper and the president of BCCI stated that Lords will not host the final of the event owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
"I'm looking forward to attending the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand, Southampton's Ageas Bowl ground will host the final of the World Test Championship.” He said.
"Yeah, it is in Southampton. It was decided a long time ago. Due to COVID and they [in Southampton] have the hotel absolutely close. When England resumed play after COVID, they had a lot of matches in Southampton due to the same reason," He added.
India and New Zealand will take on each other in the inaugural WTC final at Southampton, which is slated to start from June 18-22.
