Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selector Habibul Bashar Sumon thinks that the extra time spent in New Zealand will help the Tigers to get adjust in the New Zealand conditions. Bangladesh is currently on tour of New Zealand to play three ODIs and three T20s. Tigers have returned to practice after observing 7 days of mandatory quarantine.


Bangladesh team are currently in Christchurch and have been practicing at the Lincoln Green in small groups of seven players. Tigers had to stay inside the hotel for the first seven days, they had to undergo three corona tests, after being negative for the consecutives tests they were allowed to return to practice. But after 14 days of quarantine, the Tigers will be able to roam freely.


According to Habibul Bashar, the extra time spent in New Zealand will help the Tigers to take better preparation for the series, who is currently with the team in New Zealand.

"Before coming to New Zealand, it was very important how well we can get acclimatized to the condition here. Wickets in New Zealand are more or less the same as the one on which we are practicing here currently. We will also get to practice in Queenstown for a while.

"So, the hard work that we have put in by coming here early will only benefit us for the series. The condition here is completely different than in Bangladesh. So, it was very important for us to come in here early and get adjusted to the condition. It maybe a bit colder in Dunedin but the wicket will be more or less the same I think," said Bashar,


Bangladesh will play the first ODI against New Zealand in Dunedin on March 20. Then the remaining two ODIs of the series will be on March 23 and 26. Following the ODIs, a three-match T20 series will be played.


Tigers will play their first T20 match against the Kiwis in Hamilton on March 28. The remaining two T20s of the series will be on March 30 and April 1. The second and third matches will be in Napier and Wellington respectively.
