Bangladesh cricketers have to abide by some rules for the forthcoming tour of New Zealand as they were instructed to stay in the hotel due to corona restrictions. According to the rules given by the government of the country, the Tigers have to stay in quarantine for 14 days. However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, all-rounder said that he was frustrated being locked up in the hotel.

First of all, they have to stay in the hotel for 7 days. However, the cricketers got a chance to come out for half an hour after everyone was tested negative.

“I was in the room for the first three days. Then everyone got a chance to go out for half an hour. When I first went out, my head was spinning a little at the beginning. Then slowly after 10-15 minutes it was fine. I think as we were locked up for three days I felt like I was in jail or frustrated ... it felt a little like that” said Miraz on Sunday.

“But when I came out, I adapted to the weather, it felt a little better. When I went to the room, I felt a little fresh. Even today [Sunday] when I got out for half an hour ... it doesn't feel good to be in the room all day. You see, spending three or four days in a room, in the same way ... it's actually a little uncomfortable for us. It feels good when I go to the room after 30 minutes of break” he added.

The cricketers have been in quarantine for 5 days after their arrival in New Zealand. They didn't even get a chance to meet anyone except going out for 30 minutes. Miraz said he spent time talking to everyone on video calls during this time.

“You can guess what is happening. This is the first time I have spent five days like this inside a hotel. Didn't get to see anyone. The first three days I did not meet anyone. I had to talk through phone calls and video calls. At first it was annoying. Now that five days have passed, I hope three more days will pass easily.”

However, the cricketers will get a chance to practice after the first 7 days quarantine period.

“After six-seven days when we can go to the gym and the field, we will feel good. Maybe now time is not passing. If we could do something like gym, body fitness it would be better for us. Since there is no chance, it will start in two-three days ... hopefully we will feel better”
