Despite whitewashing the visitors West Indies in the ODI series, Bangladesh lost the first match of the Test series. Mominul Hoque's team surrendered to Kyle Mayers double century in the first Test match.
West Indies played a 3-day warm-up match against the BCB XI. 5 cricketers of the Test squad took part in that match. Mominul Hoque and Shakib Al Hasan were also absent. And this is perhaps the biggest hurdle in maintaining the fitness of cricketers during Tests as Shakib, Tamim Iqbal and Mominul got injured in the test.
At the end of the match, the captain said it was difficult to comeback in Test "It was very difficult because it is really difficult to play Tests without playing any 4-day match in the whole year."

Phil Simmons' disciples have made history by chasing 395 in the Chittagong Test. With that, Mayers took the team to the port of victory by scoring a double century. The visitors left the field with a 3-wicket win with his 210 run innings off 310 balls.

Mayers and Nkrumah Bonner ruled the first two sessions as they extended their partnership to 216 runs. Bangladesh Test captain praised both of them.
"Mayers and Bonner played really well. We didn't create enough chances, and our bowlers didn't bowl enough in the right areas. But all credit goes to Bonner and Mayers who batted really well.
Although the spinners got help from the wicket on the last day, Mominul thinks that as a team they could have created more opportunities if they wanted. However, before the second Test, Bangladesh wants to take something positivity from this rate.
“On the last day, if the wicket was a bit more helpful for spinners, we could have created more chances, but we didn't grab those chances. We lost, but we got some positives. We played the first innings as a team, and we dominated first four days. Mehidy played really well, and he bowled very well too.”
