Bangladesh team is returning in red-ball cricket after about 12 months as Mominul Haque's side will take on West Indies in the first Test of a two-match series on Wednesday. Tigers are seeking to open Test championship account with this series as well.

On paper, the Tigers will be ahead at home.  Especially in the first two days, the batsmen reign in the wickets of Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.  The main goal of Bangladesh will be to take advantage of this wicket. At the same time, the form of Test captain Mominul on Chattogram can give confidence to others.  The left-arm batsman has scored six centuries in nine Tests at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.  His average in this field is also skyrocketing 75.42

Bangladesh can make the XI with four spinners in the port city.  Taijul Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Naeem Hasan could be in the spin attack with Shakib Al Hasan. Tigers’ coach Russell Domingo has already said that Mustafizur Rahman is playing in this Test.

Mominul Haque, who has given up number three, will play at number four. At number five and six will be two experienced batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib.  Liton Das has become a regular wicketkeeper of Bangladesh in Tests.  He will bat at number seven.

The batting pillars of the Caribbean team are Jermaine Blackwood, captain Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell.  Blackwood played a 95-run innings in Southampton last year.  He is also the highest run-getter in the West Indies in the last 12 months.

Brathwaite has always played great against Bangladesh. He scored 85 runs innings in the warm-up match against BCB XI.  Kemar Roach and Alzarri Joseph will lead the Caribbean bowling attack in this series.

Right-arm spinner Rahkeem Cornwall will be with the duo. He was the one who destroyed the innings of BCB XI with 5 wickets in one innings in the practice match. The Caribbean spinner also took 6 wickets for 65 runs against Afghanistan about 14 months ago.

Bangladesh returned to international cricket amid the Corona epidemic by whitewashing the West Indies 3-0 in the ODI series.
