England all-rounder Ben Stokes said he does not understand why every cricket tournament still does not use the Decision Review Method (DRS) to remove hassle during the matches. Stokes' remark came when the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) Qualifier match between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers, Mitchell Marsh got a devastating call from the on-field umpire.
"DRS aren’t there to make the umpires look bad. Why on earth aren't all competitions using it, it's frustrating to watch something like that happen when it can so easily be fixed," tweeted Stokes.
Marsh was considered out in the 13th over of the innings in the ongoing BBL match between Sixers and Scorchers. It seems like the batsman was caught by spinner Steve OKeefe and wicketkeeper Joshua Philippe took the catch down the leg side.
Marsh was clearly surprised after being given out and he was taken aback. Replays revealed there’s a large gap between the bat and the ball. The current BBL tournament has been under pressure from numerous former cricketers for the standard of umpiring. Shane Warne has also shared his belief that DRS should be taken in by BBL as soon as possible
