Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim said that he did cobra dance all of a sudden but not with an intention of hurting anyone.
In a live session through Sports for Life a Facebook page where Akbar Ali and Mushfiqur joined to open the bidding of their memorial for auction, Mushfiqur revealed the reason of the behind the cobra dance after Bangladesh chased down a massive 215 runs against Sri Lanka in the third T20 of the Nidahas Trophy to clinch their first win of the triangular series.

At a venue that favours bowlers the most, Bangladesh sealed the fourth highest successful chase in T20 cricket and biggest in Sri Lanka. Mushfiqur Rahim was at the forefront of the huge chase and remained unbeaten when the winning runs were struck. He remained unbeaten on 72 from 35 balls. Almost caught in the euphoria of the moment, Mushfiqur celebrated with a “naagin (cobra) dance” after scoring the winning runs.
‘’No, it wasn't exactly a pre-planned celebration. You all might know that Najmul Islam Apu Bhai is the main inventor of this celebration, I think, he started it first. So my plan was if we defeat Sri Lanka in their home turf then it will obviously be an achievement for us,’’ said Mushfiqur.
‘’And chasing down 214 in the T20 format and winning a match, so overall all situation was different at that time. And as the winning run came from my bat, so I was over the moon, to be honest. So, in that case, that celebration was all of sudden by me. I never thought that it would become so famous but was not to hurt anyone,’’ he said.
