While the vice-captain is naturally the part of team’s strategy-making or planning process, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s deputy Shakib Al Hasan made it clear that he is not engaged in Tigers’ planning or decision-making process.
If that is the case then it is obvious that things are not in the right state in the Bangladesh dressing room.
Bangladesh’s semifinal hope was ended following their 28-run defeat to India, and earlier they also lost some close matches, in which Shakib believed the team has ‘lack of desperation and application.’
However with all hope is vanished, Bangladesh will play their last match against Pakistan on July 5, at Lord’s.

When a TV presenter asked Shakib that how they are planning to play against Pakistan, the ace all-rounder replied that he is not aware of it.
‘’I don’t know what we will do[ against Pakistan],’’ said Shakib.
‘’I think the coach and the captain can say better regarding the matter [planning],’’ he said.
‘’They will decide how they want to play and we will have to play according to that [strategy],’’ he said. ‘’One thing I can say that everyone is trying, every one of us tried but I think we should have tried more desperately,’’ he said.
Whether his statement is out of disgust is a matter still unknown but he did not hide his disappointment for missing to grab opportunities.
Ahead of the World Cup, it was widely regarded as the best ever Bangladesh squad for the showpiece event largely due to the experience of their core cricketers along with the new blood they had nurtured for the biggest cricket tournament of the world.
According to Shakib that [best ever Bangladesh squad for World Cup] did not reflect in the result as they had the opportunity to much better.
‘’Look, in 2011, 2015 and 2019 in these three World Cups we have only won three matches each,’’ said Shakib who still have a game against Pakistan and win can change the ratio but not their fate.
‘’The difference is that in this World Cup we have played well consistently. I won’t say anything more than that because I think we had the opportunity to do a lot better, that we couldn’t do,’’ he said.
