BCB President’s Cup gets underway

BCB President’s Cup, first competitive cricket tournament, since the corona pandemic, gets underway at the Sher-e-Bangla National from October 11.
BCB is considering the three-team 50-over competition involving the top players of the country as a test-case ahead of launching domestic cricket in a bigger scale considering board is planning to bring back on to the field.
Tamim Iqbal will lead one team while the other two sides will be led by Mahmudullah and Nazmul Hossain respectively while the day-night competition will feature national team cricketers, players from the High Performance Unit and selected members of the 2020 ICC Under-19 World Cup champion squad.
In the opening day Mahmudullah XI will take on Nazmul XI.

All the matches will be streamed live on BCB’s Face book page and Bangladesh Betar will do live commentary while BTV is expected to live telecast the final and the official website of BCB will update the score live.
The three teams will play each other twice in the league stage, with the top-two teams meeting in the final while every match will have a reserve day implying in case of any interruption, the game will roll into the reserved day.
BCB is not taking any sponsor for one-off competition but to make the tournament competitive decided to have prize money for the tournament.
The champions will receive TK 10 Lakhs while the runners-up will earn TK Five Lakhs and along with that man of the tournament will TK Three Lakhs and man of the match of each game will pocket TK One Lakh.
BCB had also introduced super sub for the competition in order to help the three leg spinner get the opportunity to bowl at least five over’s in the competition.
BCB had done corona test of 126 individuals as they are expecting to create a new bio bubble with cricketers supports staff and others involved with the competition and only two persons working in the team hotel found out to be corona negative while others are corona negative.
Due to the Covid-19 restriction, spectator will be allowed only in the Shaheed Jewel Stand in the stadium while the final is scheduled for Oct 23 with a reserve day (Oct 24).
