Bangladesh spin-bowling consultant Daniel Luca Vettori will complete his remaining days of the contract tenure with the Tigers’ forthcoming Test series in Sri Lanka.
It is learnt from the BCB officials that Vettori has some days left in his contract which will comfortably cover the imminent Sri Lanka series. And after the Sri Lanka series, they will decide whether they will extend their contract with the high-status coach or not.
The agreement of both parties is required to extend the contract. If Vettori remains agreed and the board has the willingness, the extension can be done.
Notably, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had inked their deal with New Zealand high-profile coach Daniel Vettori to be Tigers’ spin bowling coach in 2019 on the basis of the number of days - which will be finished after the tour to Sri Lanka.

Former Indian spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi was replaced by Daniel Vettori, who was locally known as Dan. Regarding Daniel Vettori’s contract, BCB director and its Cricket Operations Chairman Akram Khan said that the number of days of the contract with Vettori is yet to finish.
"You know that Vettori penned a deal with us on the basis of day, which is yet to finish. He will come during our Sri Lanka tour," Akram Khan said.
The Tigers will tour to Sri Lanka with an extended contingent due to the escalating coronavirus pandemic. They are supposed to travel in the island nation in the last week of September, almost one month prior to the begin of the Test series.
The series comprises three Tests, the initial two of which are scheduled to take place in Kandy. The first Test is slated to commence from October 24.
The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is yet to publish the final fixture of the series as well. It’s learnt from the BCB and Sri Lankan local media sources that the SLC is monitoring the overall situation of the COVID-19 as they have a good number of days for the series.
Considering the series in mind, both the BCB and the SLC are communicating on a regular basis. They rescheduled the tour with their effective communication and close board-to-board relation too. However, Bangladesh are hopeful that the SLC will soon announce the full fixture of the series with the specific venues.
Along with that, they will also inform them where the visiting team’s players, coaching staff and officials will reside after their arrival in the island nation. On the basis of it, the BCB will arrange their tour preparation as well.
The BCB entered into the small group of training after their three-phased individual training sessions. They will gradually start their team-wise practice after individual training in small group training modules before flying to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka.
