DPL got green signal from the government

Dhaka Premier League (DPL) got the green signal from the government when the Youth and Sports Ministry allowed starting all the suspended sports and training activities at all levels of the country to a limited scale.
Noteworthy, sports and training programmes at all levels of the country have been suspended since the last week of March, 2020 due to the growing coronavirus pandemic.
Recently, Sports Ministry dispatched a letter to Health and Family Planning Ministry seeking to know about starting sports and training programme in the aspects of developing the corona situation of the country.

After an emergency meeting, state minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell said, “Many countries across the world started sports and training programmes following health rules and safety protocols in the aspects of decreasing the outbreak of the COVID-19. The rate of corona-infection in our country is also downgrading. In this context, we sent a letter to Health and Family Planning Ministry seeking their opinions to start sports and training activities.”
“The Health Directorate gave their opinions to start sports and training programmes to a limited scale setting 10 conditions. In such a condition, the Sports Ministry has decided to start sports and training activities at all levels accepting all of those conditions,” Sports Minister said.
Citing the government’s different timely measures for the helpless athletes and sports organizers during the corona period, the minister said they are coming to assist our helpless athletes and sports organizers in the beginning of the corona contagion.
“We’ve granted Tk one crore to 1000 athletes at first phase. Later we also disbursed Tk three crore among over four-thousand helpless and distressed athletes, sports organizers and sport-related personnel at the grass-root level of the country,” the minsiter said.
“The Honourable Prime Minister, of late, gave us an allocation of Tk 10 crore. We want to spend it behind the players keeping it for the long term. I urge all to take part in sports and training activities following the health rules and safety protocols,” he added.
