Prince appointed as Bangladesh’s batting coach until 2022 WC

Former South Africa batsman Ashwell Prince has been appointed as the full-time batting coach of the Bangladesh cricket team until the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Prince relinquished his post as head coach at Newlands-based Western Province Cricket Association. Assistant coach Faiek Davids will take over Prince's role in an acting capacity at Western Province when the South African domestic season starts in September.
Prince worked as the head coach at the Cape Cobras during the 2016/2017 season and was also at the helm of the Cape Town Blitz for the first two seasons of the Mzansi Super League.
Prince expressed his thanks to an organization that has been extremely close to his heart for most of his cricket career.
“I’d like to thank the President and the board of directors of Western Cape Cricket who have entrusted me with the development of some of the country’s most talented young players over the last 4 years. What I will treasure most about my stint as head coach of Cape Cobras / Cape Town Blitz is, along with my coaching staff, assisting 6 young players to make their international debut for the Proteas,” he said.
The 44-year-old will replace Englishman Jon Lewis on a permanent basis after recently impressing on a tour of Zimbabwe where he assisted on an interim basis.
Prince will be added to Bangladesh's current South African coaching staff, which includes former Proteas coach Russell Domingo as head coach and Ryan Cook as fielding coach. Bangladesh's bowling coach is West Indies Ottis Gibson, another Proteas head coach.
