In what could be a comeback for the Englishman, Richard Pybus is apparently arriving in Dhaka to hold talks with the Bangladesh Cricket Board, according to Prothom Alo. The current Director of Cricket for the West Indies team has already coached the Bangladesh team once back in 2012 and was also the coach of Pakistan on more than one occasion.

The Head of Media Committee of BCCI, Jalal Younus, confirmed that the South African will be in Dhaka by sunset. He said, “yes, he will arrive today, but I can’t say for sure when he will sit to hold talks [with the board].”

“Maybe he will talk at noon tomorrow.”

He initially joined the Bangladesh cricket team as its coach in 2012, but left the position after just 5 months due to contractual disputes with the board. Under his tutelage, the team won 12 of its 16 games – which is 75% win ratio.

However, he wasn’t pleased with some of the habits promoted by BCB. For instance, he wanted complete change of player diet and also had a problem with BCB for their 45-days-a-year holiday policy.

But now it seems as though the BCB want someone who could instill a proper setup from top-to-bottom and Pybus seems to be their go-to man. It must be added, however, that he isn’t the only one on their list as former West Indian player, Phil Simmons, and former Australia player and coach, Geoff Marsh, are also on the shortlist of BCB.

Whether or not Pybus will actually land the job is a mystery that would be solved soon. However, what can’t be denied is that he Bangladesh Cricket Board aren’t going to be at peace until and unless they find someone to coach the team.

And that certain someone should be of the caliber that the team needs now – and with so much experience under his belt, Pybus is one of them.
